1937 Wells Wurlitzer

Art Deco Butterfly
Walnut Hand-Rubbed Satin Finish

Baby Grand Piano

Uriel’s Piano had the remarkable opportunity to restore and refinish a truly rare and historically significant instrument — the “Butterfly Grand,’ a distinctive baby grand piano crafted by the renowned Rudolph Wurlitzer Piano & Organ Company in 1937. Unlike most pianos, this unique instrument features 73 notes instead of the standard 88, giving it a special character and musical palette. Despite this variation, it maintains the conventional design and elegance of a traditional grand piano in every other aspect.
The restoration process involved carefully taking the piano down to its bare wood, allowing for meticulous refinishing to match its original walnut veneer. This meticulous work resulted in a stunning hand-rubbed satin walnut finish that highlights the natural beauty and craftsmanship of the original design. The Butterfly Grand not only represents a piece of musical history but also exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, making it a treasured instrument that continues to inspire and captivate musicians and enthusiasts alike.
